Do you have an Internet Real Estate?

You need an Internet Real Estate! But what does that mean?

More than 3 billion people are now using the Internet, according to the United Nations agency that oversees international communications. The number of Internet users has increased from 738 million in 2000 to 3.2 billion in 2015, according to a new report from the International Telecommunication Union.

There is a hive of daily activity on the Internet and people are posting new blogs or articles, updating their social media channels, commenting, liking, sharing to name but a few.  No wonder you and your content do get lost in the midst of all this!

The solution is that you must own a small portion of all this, it must become your space – your Internet real estate. You need an audience, a group of people that are eagerly waiting for you very next blog or video. But at the same time you must have a group of people that you follow not only with the objective to sell to but also to learn from and to assist when they need help.

You will know that you can claim your stake of a portion of Internet ownership when you start recognizing people that engage with you and people that you can reach out to when you need advice.

Why is this important? This is one method to measure your online activity success but more so this is also indicative of the fact what you provide to your audience is of value, they need more from you and therefor show up in your timelines ready for your very next word. You now have an online following!

Think about it as walking into an event and lots of people coming over interested to hear your opinions. Will you ever look for leads or struggle with online sales when you have a large Internet real estate?

How do you achieve this?

Simply by taking small daily steps consistently. Most people throw in the towel to quickly or complain that posting content on social media or creating content for websites or blogs are slavery with the value questionable. Some are just not prepared to spend the time or the effort to take the action that the Internet real estate building process requires. Activities like providing value first by posting content of huge value and then engage with others without the objective to sell but rather to assist.

It reminds me of the movie Karate Kid of 1984 which made a huge impression on me! Now I am no movie critic but the life lessons I learned in the movie, stayed with me since!

Miagi agrees to teach Daniel Karate but the ‘wax-on, wax-off’ instructions while washing Miagi’s car is perceived as becoming a slave. Daniel objected to this as he had only the end goal in mind – winning the fight. Daniel could not understand that Miagi was teaching him defensive blocks through muscle memory.

Everything we do in life and business has a pattern, a structure that must be followed over and over until it has been perfected and mastered.
