SEO, a website visitor experience roadmap
Search Engine Optimization better known as SEO is the process of getting traffic from the “free,” “organic,” “editorial” or “natural” search results on search engines. SEO affects the visibility of a website unpaid search engine result pages (SERPs), by incorporating search engine friendly elements into a website.
SEO strategies, techniques and tactics will assist any business to increase traffic, the number of visitors, to the business website by obtaining high-ranking placement in search results. The reality is that a business should view SEO as the most cost effective manner in which to manage their website, webpages and/or blog visibility.
Remember poorly designed and developed websites will also work for a business and assist in the overall objectives, including more online visitors and even resulting in online sales. It is just that much harder and far more costly. If you consider the cost of PPC (pay per click) advertising, it makes more business sense to focus on a sound SEO strategy saving time and cost.
Be careful though to first design and develop your website for your customer or your buyer’s persona and then to optimize the website for search engines. The goal of SEO is twofold:
- Create a great, seamless website visitor experience.
- Communicate to the search engines the business intentions in order for the search engine to recommend the website for relevant searches
