Smart Goals must include these 3 Steps
Much has been said about setting goals but still it seems as if goal setting remains challenging for most.
Goals are all about creating expected results. Being in control of the end result!
We are all familiar with the S.M.A.R.T goal formula:
S – Smart
M – Measurable
A – Achievable
R – Realistic
T – Time Specific
The problem is not in how to create goals but rather what to focus on when setting goals. It is common for people to set the BIG goals and then to focus on that. No matter how much you believe in mind power and channeling energy, achieving the BIG goals will require dedicated and focused daily action or activity!
Marry the process…… and divorce the outcome!
In order to achieve the BIG goal you need to start at the very beginning and set goals for each step in the process. The activities within each step must be repeated to perfection until you eventually reach the BIG goal.
The main process steps to focus on are:
- Prospecting – Finding prospects simply mean finding people that you can start building relationships with. Somebody that you can tell what you have to offer and to determine their level of interest or need. It is the most important step in the process and the skill of prospecting must be mastered if there is to be any hope for success. A high number of prospects must be aimed for daily and I always suggest 30-50 people that you need to speak to on a daily basis. Focus only on finding these people first before moving on to the next step.
- Leads – Once a prospect indicates some interest he/she must be moved to a Lead. This is when all effort now must concentrate on lead nurturing ensuring that the lead will be well informed and educated on the value of your offer. Ideally you should aim to convert or create at least 5-10 leads daily.
- Customer – When the lead finally makes a decision to purchase your product or to join your team the lead now becomes your customer. Now it is important that you start with the process of customer service ensuring that your customer is satisfied with your service. Satisfied customers always create more customers by referring others to you that will become another prospect; entering into this 3 step process. You should aim for 3-5 new customers weekly.
Once you successfully defined you goals for each of these steps you are on your way to reaching the BIG goal.
It is evident that when you start your business there will be a lot of work that has to be done. However as you progress and your skill improve you will gain momentum which will mean that attraction marketing will start to kick in whereby prospects will knock on your door. Then prospecting becomes easier as you move towards the ultimate goal that you aim for.
Many marketers never get past the prospecting step. Simply because if all marketing strategies and devoted efforts yield poor results it is for a newby network marketer almost impossible to determine the possible problem areas. That is why it is so important to start your business with a coach. Someone than can help you to brainstorm failures but also to encourage you and to keep you accountable towards your own goals.
Most successful people work closely with a coach. Sometimes it is just not possible to move forward at the pace you would like to without an objective assistant. I still use a coach and without Magi it will be impossible to reach my targets.
Set your goals, focus on the process steps and absolutely get yourself a coach. Success only happens when you are fully in control every step of the way.
